York Photography Studio has a large 86 sq metre apartment studio with many possibilities for layout, mood and sets. 

The studio is now permanently located below the Yoga studio in a furnished apartment setting. There is a fully fitted kitchen, dining area (converted to the main shooting area complete with interchangeable Colorama paper backdrop system), lounge, bedroom, separate changing room and shower room.

Our Bowens professional studio flash lighting is complemented with various light modifiers (umbrellas, softboxes, striplights, snoots, barndoors, octoboxes, lighting boom and stands) to enable you to create exactly the lighting conditions you desire. In addition we now have a number of LED “video” lights providing a continuous light source.

We do still have the upstairs Yoga studio available to hire whenever there are no yoga classes scheduled. This studio space has a large bay window at one end allowing for the use of natural light, whilst blackout blinds mean you can also use purely studio lighting and set the mood accordingly. We have a wall mounted backdrop system with interchangeable Colorama Paper rolls in many colours, to suit your needs.

To make your shoot accessible to models and clients the apartment studio has its own fully fitted kitchen with tea, coffee & cold drink making facilities, microwave, fridge etc. as well as a separate shower room, makeup & changing area and upstairs in the yoga studio is a reception area with comfortable sofa should you arrive early for your shoot.

There are also helpful extras available to ensure a smooth running shoot, such as ironing board and iron, clothes rail and step ladders. We have also built up quite a selection of clothes, shoes and other props & accessories that you are very welcome to use for your shoot. Through our connections, with some notice, we can also provide additional props, models and makeup artists. Of course, you can also bring your own as well. Commercial photographers are very welcome to bring the products you need to shoot along with any specific props, lighting etc.

There is ample free on street parking right outside the studio, and we are well served by public transport.
